Kent Life brings you the most romantic Valentine's competition ever, the prize a heart shaped bed set especially designed and hand-made by Cocketts Mattresses

Hand made by Cocketts Mattresses, the beautiful bed set has a luxuriously padded mattress made with pocketted springing and covered in a warm crimson cotton.

The upholstered bed base is finished in black chenille and the set measures 6ft x 8ft at its maximum width and length.

Included in the prize is a set of made-to-measure bedding by Myerchin Classics, comprising a mattress protector and fitted sheet to fit the heart shape, two Oxford style pillow cases, and a 4.5 tog duvet with cover to complement the heart shape.

The bedding will also be made to the winner's choice of colour. All together this prize is worth more than £2,500.

Making the heart-shaped "VALENTINE" bed was no problem for chief mattress maker Dylan Hampshire and his Kent-based family firm, Cocketts Mattresses where traditional methods of craftsmanship are still to be found.

Now in its third generation, Cocketts Mattresses was founded by the late Fred Cockett - Dylan's grandfather - in 1928, and built up a solid reputation across South East England (and beyond) during the succeeding decades.

Using traditional craftsmanship combined with the latest materials, Cocketts, of Herne Bay, make mattresses to all specifications available on the market to any size or shape, including pocketted springing and memory foam. Cocketts are able to meet their customer's exact needs. For instance, where partners have varying personal preferences or are of very different bodyweight, Cocketts will fit the bill by specifying a zoned mattress.

Based in Dorset, Myerchin manufacture bespoke bedding from mattress protectors through to duvets and covers, all individually made to the actual shape and size of the mattress.
